Ford knew they had to get the 2012 Boss 302 Mustang right. And boy, did they ever. With 440 horsepower, a track-tuned suspension, and nostalgic good-looks, the 2012-13 Boss 302 Mustang is a track monster and a road warrior. But Ford is still limited by government regulations as far as sound and emissions go, which means there is plenty of room for improvement.
Enter Flowmaster, who has just released a new American Thunder series cat-back exhaust for the 2012 Boss 302 Mustang. Besides adding a nice, throatier sound to your Boss 302 Mustang, it also bumps up horsepower at the wheels throughout the powerband. It’s a win-win-win situation.
The true-dual cat-back exhaust system features Flowmaster’s Series 60 mufflers, specially tuned for the Boss 302. A Scavenger X-pipe includes sidepipe mounting flanges and 3-inch mandrel-bent 409S stainless steel tubing. The bolt-on exhaust comes with all necessary installation hardware, and even includes side-pipe spacer plates with larger .75” holes- a popular modification in itself. It sounds amazing too, and this video spends plenty of time giving you a good listen at a Boss 302 equipped with this new exhaust system from Flowmaster.
What’s more, this system substantially increases horsepower and torque across the board, with an increase of about 8 hp and 20 ft-lbs of torque over stock. Those are some awesome gains, and Flowmaster’s dyno chart shows power improvement across the entire powerband, from a simple exhaust system. If you’re lucky enough to own a 2012 Boss 302, you’d be crazy not to pick up one of these exhaust systems.
