The new F-150 from Ford Motor Company is an awesome vehicle – it has a multitude of powertrain and appearance options, rides nice and smooth, and generally makes you forget you’re driving a truck around town. Those owners who have made the choice to purchase the 3.5L twin-turbocharged, direct-injected V6 get to tool around with 365 horsepower and 420 ft.lb. of torque – not shabby numbers by any stretch of the imagination, but only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to EcoBoost performance.
Livernois Motorsports has developed custom tuning for the EcoBoost engine in these trucks that takes them off the charts for a simple tuning upgrade. Livernois offers EcoBoost F-150 tunes for 87, 89, 91, and 93 octane fuels that will greatly increase power and torque – regardless of whether you are running around town or towing a 10,000 pound enclosed trailer, the Livernois tuning team has exactly what you need. Many of their customers are actually claiming increased fuel economy with these hot tunes. But wait – there’s more!
Not only have the Livernois engineers spent countless hours getting the engine tune-up correct, they’ve also put tons of development time into improving the factory automatic transmission’s shift feel and performance. Many EcoBoost owners have had concerns about the transmission shifting so softly that it can’t be felt, and those concerns are remedied in the Livernois Motorsports custom EcoBoost tunes to firm up the shifts and return that positive feel.
Livernois’ Rick LeBlanc explained, “The adaptive learning with EcoBoost is pretty sensitive. You can add some power just by running 93 octane, but they pick up so much more with a custom tune. In stock form on 87 octane, our truck made 291 horsepower and 343 ft./lbs of torque at the wheels. With 93 octane and our custom tune it picked up to 376 horses and 452 ft./lbs. of torque. The truck in stock form ran a 14.80 at the dragstrip, and with a tune only we’ve got one going 13.30 at 100 MPH. That’s a fully loaded four-door, four-wheel-drive pickup truck – 5,986 pounds with driver.”
It’s a simple process for you to acquire a Livernois tune for your vehicle. LeBlanc says, The tune is by far the biggest bang for the buck mod for these vehicles. The MyCalibr8or is made exclusively for us by AIW and sells for $599. Once we create the custom files and load them on the device, the customer then connects the device to the OBD-II port to flash the vehicle’s computer and disconnect when finished.
The tuner holds stock + 4 files. We just need your strategy code, tire size (if different than stock) and whether you want the performance or towing tunes. All of our tunes have been developed in-house on our AWD chassis dyno or the track and proven on the streets of Dearborn, Michigan. Before releasing our tunes to the public, we had hundreds of dyno pulls and thousands of street miles logged in our own truck. The increased power and torque was great, but we also focused on drivability and reliability.”
