What It’s Like To Take A Spin In The 700HP Mustang RTR Spec 3

When the 2018 Mustang hit the showroom floor late last year, the refreshed aerodynamics created quite a stir. Hate it or love it, the newly updated aerodynamic design of the S550 delivered a leaner, more aggressive look that commanded attention. While many of us welcomed the new athletic appeal for 2018, we also knew that this refresh would open an entirely new outlet for aftermarket companies to design products to complement the modern exterior design and improve the aerodynamic capabilities of our beloved pony car.

At the opening round of the 2018 Formula DRIFT season, we first caught a glimpse of Formula Drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s 2018 Ford Mustang RTR. We also learned that many of the same aero that was on the RTR Motorsports Mustang would also be available for purchase later in the year.

In the latest episode of Hot Lap, AmericanMuscle’s Justin Dugan gives us the first look at the brand new 2018 Mustang  RTR Spec 3 vehicle. The vehicle is the first retail 2018 RTR Spec 3 Mustang in existence and is the grand prize vehicle from AmericanMuscle’s RTR giveaway that took place earlier this year.

“The Spec 3 is a car that can literally do it all,” Justin enthused. “From the looks to the handling — and with 600+ to the tire — this is a ride you could have fun with no matter what style of driving you’re into.”

The 2018 Mustang RTR Spec 3 is the highest of the three dealer-prepped RTR packages that are available. It is equipped with the RTR Motorsports signature tactical suspension as well as Ford Performance/ROUSH’s brand-new TVS2650 supercharger system. This supercharger system will catapult your dual-fuel Coyote to 700 horsepower and 610 lb-ft torque at the crank.

But before Justin handed the keys over to the AmericanMuscle Grand Prize winner Jordan M. from Springhill, Kansas, he took the car out for a quick spin to explain what makes this RTR vehicle so unique. He also strapped the Spec 3 on the dyno to show just how easy it is to produce usable power with the TVS2650 supercharger system.
