Terminator owners, this one is for you! While VMP Performance is notable for being the weapon of choice for some of the fastest S550 Mustangs around, it also offers a full line of go-fast products for 2003-2004 Mustang Cobras. The star of the show, of course, is the new VMP Gen3 2.65L TVS Supercharger Kit.
VMP first released a 2.3L supercharger upgrade for the Terminator back in 2010. However, following the recent introduction of Eaton’s 2.65L rotors, VMP knew it had to revamp the system to offer fresh, cutting-edge performance for the Cobra platform. The refreshed version offers a new and improved housing, new inlet elbow, and new cold air intake.
Recently, VMP posted a video hosted by founder Justin Starkey speaking in detail about the Gen3 supercharger, as well as additional performance offerings, and helpful installation tips. You can check out that video below!
The VMP Gen3 2.65L TVS Supercharger is an upgrade for the Cobra’s factory Eaton M112 supercharger. It is a direct replacement and was designed using OEM CAD data for proper fit and stock hood clearance. The one-piece housing features a side inlet, similar to that of the factory supercharger. According to VMP, the housing utilizes a rigid design, allows for a larger rear inlet, and decreases the chance for vacuum leaks, as well as making direct bolt-on installation a breeze.
Inside, Eaton technology offers reliability and performance, and the Twin Vortices Series compressor allows for an operating range of 10 to 22+ psi. A high-twist symmetrical 4-lobe rotor design promotes adiabatic efficiency, far exceeding the stock M112.
You can expect gains of anywhere between 100 and 550+ horsepower to the rear wheels, depending on your choice of pulley size and boost level. A one-year warranty provided by VMP sweetens the deal!
In addition to breaking the kit down to the nuts and bolts (literally), Justin also brings attention to the wide variety of supporting accessories available from VMP, including elbows designed to work in conjunction with the GT500, Accufab, and stock throttle bodies, as well as pulleys, throttle body gaskets, and much more.
The supercharging powerhouse best known as VMP Performance operates out of New Smyrna, Florida, and was founded by husband-wife team, Justin and Rebecca Starkey. If you needed more convincing, rest assured that the Starkeys are no stranger to real-world performance. Rebecca operates a 1,200+ horsepower S550 Mustang in the National Mustang Racers Association (NMRA) series, and the pair also brings their tuning specialties to the track.
