Ken Block’s “Gymkhana” series of stunt videos have garnered hundreds of millions of views between them, from all over the world, making them some of the most-popular YouTube videos of all time. The videos were unique for both the production qualities, obstacles, and unique course setups.
Taking a page out of Ken Block’s book, 2010 Formula Drift Champion, and current points leader, Vaughn Gittin Jr. has lent his skills to a mini-movie called “Fire Drift”, which will pit the pro-drifter against “some of the most insane face melting, tire burning, earth exploding obstacles.” Their words, not ours.
Regardless of the description, the teaser video Gittin released to build up some buzz does make Fire Drift look pretty badass. From what we can tell, there is definitely a lot of fire, with a rolling tire carcass the focal point for a moment. Then we see Gittin drifting past a barrel that explodes with the Monster energy symbol, before drifting beneath a huge fireball. All in all, very epic.
Could this be the beginning of a new Gymkhana series, but with Gittin at the wheel instead? We’ll have to wait for the full video premiere on June 11th, when it hits the interwebs in force. With fire, Mustangs, and drifting though, it sounds like a combination that couldn’t possibly go wrong.
