Vaughn Gittin Jr has already attained legendary status in the Mustang world. Gitin is as much a show man as he is a racer, traveling the country and putting on great exhibitions when he’s not competing for the Formula Drift championship.
Recently Gittin headed to Canada, for the GP3R Motorsports Festival in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. The festivities included Gittin putting on a great show for the fans on the road course which is made up in large part of city streets. A few lucky fans went for rides in the Monster Energy Mustang, and there was plenty of smokey action. Gittin even drifted around some of the Monster Energy girls and had a little tire smoking head to head action with some of the Motocross guys.
The highlight of Gittin’s weekend however was likely his turn behind the wheel of a stock car in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series. Gittin has never raced in this type of vehicle. He was realistic about his goals saying he’d be happy to not crash and finish middle of the pack. While that doesn’t sound like the big personality that Gittin is known for, it speaks volumes about his wisdom as a driver. Being self-taught in drifting and now owning his own team, Gittin certainly knows what it’s like to push the boundaries of yourself and your equipment.
He was able to pull off his goal of a mid-pack finish. Gittin put on a great show, and we’d love to see even more action from him and other Formula D superstars when they’re not competing. Motorsports needs the energy and enthusiasm of stars like Gittin to get younger fans involved.
