Twenty years ago if you wanted to video something cool and share it with the world, you needed a huge camcorder, access to the Internet, and the patience to upload a video file via a modem. These days all it takes is an iPhone and DSL to share your video with the world, and it should come as no surprise that many videos on YouTube are of the automotive type. With a few photographic tricks and a well-placed camera, any amateur videographer can produce a very cool video.

Set to the timeless classic Hot Rod Lincoln by Charlie Ryan, this timelapse video shows the reconstruction and modification of a 1968 Ford Mustang as it is prepared for the upcoming Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

The timelapse video covers a three week period as Jim Hodgson and his restoration crew prep this classic Mustang for one of America’s premier races, the Pikes Peak Race to the Clouds. The car is being prepped for an unnamed Australian driver who apparently demanded a right-hand drive car. Yup, this Mustang wasn’t just rebuilt in three weeks; it was even converted to right-hand drive!

Timelapse photography has always been cool, and watching a whole Mustang makeover from start to finish never gets old. If you ask us, these kinds of cameras should be mandatory in every performance and restoration shop. It’s a great video set to a great song, so make sure you watch the whole thing!
