The release of the all-new 2015 Mustang has been eagerly anticipated by every true-blue diehard Ford fan here in the good ol’ US of A, but it’s the world market that Ford’s after with the newest iteration of the ponycar platform. For the first time ever, the Mustang will be available in Europe and the rest of the world, who – until this year – have had to make do without right-hand-drive versions or with aftermarket conversion of the car, which cost a great deal to import.

May 24th, 2014 is the date where the vehicle will be made available for pre-order through Ford.com in right-hand-drive configuration. Will the new car be a sales success? Ford’s certainly banking on the Mustang’s popularity throughout the world to ensure that the car lives a long and prosperous life moving forward.

We expect to see the sales numbers take off and allow Ford the luxury of owning the title of the World’s Greatest Ponycar for years to come. From what we have seen on social media, the new car has been polarizing in terms of whether people love it or hate it; we are firmly on the ‘love it’ side of the equation and suspect as they start to show up in showrooms and on the world’s streets, the sentiment will firmly shift in that direction.

The Mustang has been one of the world’s greatest automotive marquees since its introduction in 1964, and in order for the new platform to be considered a success it must rack up the sales numbers worldwide.

Given the Mustang’s legendary history and appeal as everyman’s sports car, we have no doubt that will be the case. The new independent rear suspension and other upgrades over the current platform will only serve to enhance that appeal to carbuyers worldwide. We hope the folks in Dearborn can get used to the phrase “London Calling”…
