Ford’s 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine continues to impress us. This engine is becoming the darling of not only Ford in terms of applications, but also of the aftermarket, where outfits like Livernois Motorsports continue to work their magic on pulling more power out of vehicles equipped with Ford’s gas saving mill.

Livernois recently got their hands on a new 2013 Ford Escape, which they promptly used their previous experience with tuning Ford’s EcoBoost engines to see what kind of performance they could pull out of the blue oval’s cross-over SUV. The results are respectable to say the least, the Escape baselined 182 hp, and 221 ft-lbs to the wheels. After a Livernois 93 octane tune was loaded the Escape spun the rollers to 212 hp, and 263 ft-lbs. That’s a gain of 30 hp, and 41 ft-lbs, with only a tune. Studying the dyno graph also reveals that the power comes in earlier and stays strong throughout the engine’s operating range.

Of course increasing power is not all that utilizing this tune is good for, other benefits include:

• Transmission modifications with reduced torque management and modified shift points/firmness
• Enhanced throttle response
• Available for multiple fuel octane levels (87, 89, 91, 93 currently available)
• Removed top speed limiter
• Read/Clear (DTC) Codes

We know not everyone can drive a Mustang everyday.
