The guys over at Livernois Motorsports have been performing Ford EcoBoost tuning since these engines were first introduced nearly five years ago. The engineering investment, of time and resources to develop parts and tunes for these cars has been tremendous, but it has also paid off. So it was no surprise to see Livernois quickly adding power to the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost.
Livernois progressed their EcoBoost project much the same way most enthusiasts would. They started off baselining the car, then adding a basic tune and drag radials. As they worked the tune more aggressively they also started adding parts like their cold air intake, and exhaust system. Tuning alone yielded impressive power gains, taking power from 261.28 hp and 272 ft-lbs torque at the rear tires stock, to 317.23 hp and 359.96 ft-lbs torque. A net gain of 56 hp and 87 ft-lbs of torque.
ET’s dropped throughout the testing process, and the end result is a powerful, but fully streetable, and easily driven 2015 EcoBoost Mustang. With the bolt on parts, some 17-inch drag radials and race gas, Livernois was ultimately able to get their 2015 Mustang to run an 11.81 at 114.17 MPH. That’s more than a two second difference from where they originally baselined the car stock at the drag strip with a 13.896 pass.
There’s still plenty of uncharted territory left to explore on the EcoBoost Mustang, and we think Livernois is just hitting the tip of the iceberg. We’ll be anxious to see what else they have in store as this project progresses during the winter.
