Video: Life In The Foust Lane Tackles Top Gear

If you could trade jobs for one day with any person on the planet, who would it be? If it were up to us, trading jobs and lives with Tanner Foust would be very high up on the list, as the world-renowned race car driver and host of Top Gear America gets to do things most of us have only dreamed of. And he gets paid for it.

Rockstar Energy has even devoted an entire YouTube series giving us a peek behind the curtain at the life and times of Tanner Foust. The series has focused on the ups and downs of his racing career, as well as his time coaching at the Octane Academy. This latest episode, however, focuses on Foust’s day job; hosting Top Gear America 0n the History Channel.

Racing can be frustrating, especially when you aren’t winning, but for Tanner the other part of his job is, in his own words, part vacation, part stress relief. While initial seasons of Top Gear felt a little forced, since then Tanner, Rutledge Wood, and Adam Ferrara have become good chums, and the feel of the show is a lot more natural. It’s nearly as good as its British predecessor.

The video gives us a behind-the-scenes look at Tanner’s repoirte with Ferrara and Wood, and he has good things to say of both. Tanner says that Ferrara is “very smart” and that there’s a lot of “depth” to Rutledge Wood. Tanner also talks about his time at the Gymkhana grid at Irwindale Speedway, where he finished strong despite feeling shaky going in. And just to cap things off, the video ends with Tanner helping film a Forza commercial, behind the wheel of a McLaren.

After seeing this webisode, we were wondering if Tanner needs a sidekick, or at least a fourth for Top Gear -we’re available.
