Professional rally driver and tire smoke enthusiast Ken Block has earned legendary status among gearheads for his series of Gymkhana videos in which he tears around various locales, often sideways, making an awesome racket in brutally potent drift machines that are tailored to his unique brand of car control.

For Gymkhana Seven, rather than utilize one of his racing team’s rally cars, Block and company decided to do something a little bit different. The result was a custom wide body 1965 Ford Mustang coupe with an inboard pushrod suspension, an 845 horsepower Roush Yates 410 cubic inch 6.7-liter Ford V8 engine and a Sadev SC90-24 gearbox which sends power to all four corners by way of a custom all-wheel-drive system.

They dubbed it the RTR Hoonicorn, and it turned out as insane and awesome as it sounds.

Before launching his assault on Los Angeles landmarks like Randy’s Donuts, the Chinatown marketplace and the LA Riverbed, they apparently saw fit to test the beast – which sports totally bespoke AWD running gear – once before rolling film to make sure it could withstand the beating that Block was bound to dish out.

It appears scheduling must have been pretty tight, as in this test film the RTR Hoonicorn is unencumbered by such luxuries as a windshield (or any other glass), a front clip, a trunk lid or doors. The result is basically Satan’s go-kart.
