In April of 1990, ABC aired the pilot episode of “Twin Peaks,” a show that follows an FBI investigator as he tries to uncover the murder of the homecoming queen in the sleepy Washington state town. The show derived its name from the fictional town of the same name, which was largely filmed Snoqualmie Falls, Washington. It went on to be one of the most critically acclaimed series of the decade before being cancelled.
As it turns out, Snoqualmie Falls is also home to the DirtFish Rally School, where Ken Block took his Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle (H.F.H.V.) Ford Fiesta for its first workout on gravel. Thus we have the ensuring video, complete with cut-in shots of old Twin Peaks footage.
There’s no denying that Mr. Block has quite the sense of humor, “re-enacting” famous scenes from the show in the exact same location. As it turns out, the old Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Department is now the DirtFish Rally School, where block took to the gravel track and gave the himself and the H.F.H.V. some gravel driving time.
What else is there to say about this three-minute video, except that it is packed full of the same hooning and driving that we all love to watch, interceded by some serious scenes from the old show. But after seeing all of this old Twin Peaks footage, it makes us want to go back and watch the series all over again, knowing full well that Block is tearing up those same city roads and backwoods trails.
