Jayce Andrade, the younger brother of Street Outlaws star John Andrade, has made quite a name for himself of late with his big-block, nitrous-equipped Fox body Mustang known as ‘Yeti’, taking some petty stout competition at events in and around the Oklahoma City area. But the young Andrade had an outing he’d just as soon forget this past weekend at the Thunder Valley Raceway Park, when he put the Mustang hard into the wall.
Andrade was racing against the 8-second D3 Racing Dodge Viper (which we wrote about earlier) during a contest at Thunder Valley when the white Fox pulled yet another massive wheelstand off the starting line, briefly climbing up onto the bumper and leaving only one wheel and tire still in contact with the racing surface. The landing from said wheelstand was particularly brutal, as the car slammed down on the pavement with all the force of a 3,000-plus pound vehicle, leaving a shower of sparks behind it as the undercarriage made contact with the asphalt.
According to Andrade, the impact burst the radiator, sending antifreeze pouring out under the rear tires. That left him as little more than a passenger, although he did make a valiant effort at trying to corral the car before it could strike anything. In the end, the Mustang nosed into the wall at a pretty good lick, smashing the nose, buckling the fenders, and sending the hood flying over the wall. Fortunately, however, Andrade jumped from the car unhurt, killed the power, and seemed to have a pretty good attitude about the whole ordeal, despite the expensive and heart-breaking damage to his pride and joy.
