Though Ford promotes the turbocharged-line of EcoBoost engines as fuel-efficient, for us it is all about low-end torque and lots of performance from a smaller package. The first performance application of the EcoBoost engine was in the Taurus SHO sedan, but since then the EcoBoost has also been applied from a performance aspect to the Focus ST, and most recently the F-150 Tremor Fiesta ST.
To help support its hometown of Detroit’s bid to host the 2014 ESPN Summer X-Games (and the Fiesta ST as well), the Blue Oval launched this wicked video of the Fiesta ST hooning around some of the Motor City’s best-known landmarks. If this doesn’t convince ESPN to bring the X-Games to Detroit, nothing will.
You may remember this particular Fiesta from an earlier video highlighting the Motor City’s X-Games attitude in its bid for the X-Games, and it looks like both videos may have come from the same day of shooting. With Ford rally driver Andreas Ericksson, the Fiesta ST hoons around landmarks like the Cobo Hall parking garage, on Belle Island, and around the abandoned Michigan Grand Depot.
Detroit is bidding to host the X-Games against other cities with a cleaner reputation, like Austin and Chicago. But neither of those cities is home to America’s great auto industry, and with the X-Games now prominently featuring automotive events, Detroit definitely deserves a shot at hosting this extreme sports competition.
