While we’re all about the Ford Mustang and American muscle, we have to give a hat tip to the European branch of the Blue Oval. Despite being saddled with $9-a-gallon gasoline, ridiculous VAT taxes, and a crushing economic recession, Ford engineers have still built two of the hottest hatchbacks on the planet; the Focus ST and Fiesta ST.
Powered by four-cylinder EcoBoost engines, the Focus ST and Fiesta ST are already pretty damn peppy, boasting 247 and 197 horsepower respectively. But that just isn’t enough for some people, and as Carscoops reports, Ford of Europe is more than happy to oblige your inner speed demon with some new tuning packages from aftermarket specialists Mountune.
The Mountune tuning package for the Focus ST will set you back either $1,850 for silver accents, or $1,930 for black, and includes a host of performance and exterior enhancements. Cast alloy inlet ducts, a high-flow air filter, a bigger intercooler, and unique engine calibration raise power from 247 ponies to 271 hp, and torque is boosted from 265 ft-lbs to 295 ft-lbs. This helps the Mountune Focus ST make the 0-60 mph sprint in less than six seconds.
The Fiesta ST recieves a similar boost to its output, adding many of the same modifications sans the intercooler. On the Fiesta, the Mountune package boosts horsepower from 180 to 212 hp, with torque rising from 214 ft-lbs to 236 ft-lbs, a healthy increase in this subcompact hatch. This kit will cost you about $900, and like the Focus ST kit, comes with a factory Ford warranty. What more can you ask for?
