The Ford Fiesta ST is the latest performance car to roll out of Ford factories. Following on the heels of the well-received and highly-successful Ford Focus ST. The Fiesta ST is also has the double honor of being the Blue Oval’s Global RallyCross competitor, taking on the twists, turns, jumps, and dirt that makes a rallycross race exciting.
And Ford has plenty of exciting news this weekend, with the Blue Oval’s Fiesta ST taking home the Top 5 spots at the New Hampshire leg of the Global RallyCross Championship. Toomas Heikkinen took first place, and four other Fiesta ST drivers followed close behind, giving Ford a dominant day in the Live Free or Die state.
It’s the fourth podium finish for Heikkinen, who is the only driver to have placed on the podium in all four rounds of the Global RallyCross season so far. Behind Heikkinen came Patrik Sandell, finishing just three seconds slower, followed by Brian Deegan, who helped round out the top three.
That leaves two big names, Tanner Foust and Ken Block, unaccounted for. Foust was leading the entire race, up until the final corner when he hit the wall and gave up position to Heikkinen, Sandell, and Deegan. Foust ended up in fourth place, while Ken Block came in 5th, completing the Fiesta’s domination of the fourth round of the Global RallyCross Championship.
Heikkinen now leads the drivers points with 76 points, with tanner Foust a distant second with just 51 points. But the season is far from over, and fortunes can change in an instant…just ask Tanner.
