This video from XXX Motorsports almost doesn’t seem like a fair fight. This 2013 Mustang GT, takes on a Dodge Challenger Scat Pack, and an older WS6 LS powered trans am. While on the surface that might sound like a fair fight, the Mustang is far from a stock car.
Under the carbon fiber hood of this ’13 is a Coyote breathed upon by a Paxton Novi 2200. There’s also long tube headers and exhaust, and what the video deems as “full suspension”. We’re not sure what their definition of “full” is, but let’s assume its some control arms, and maybe adjustable shocks or struts at least.
The Scat Pack Challenger is stock, and there’s no info offered on the WS6 TA, although we seldom see those cars in stock trim at the drag strip, and while we can’t be certain the exhaust note from that car sounds like it could be modified.
There’s two drag strip passes in this video. The first is against the Scat Pack. The Dodge gets the jump at the light, and the Mustang seems to leave the line pretty easy. As things progress down track, the Mustang has the Dodge rundown by 330 feet, and is on his way to a low 12-second ET.
Up against the Trans Am, it’s a similar story. The Pontiac gets an early jump with a much better reaction time, but before the 1/8 mile marker, the Mustang has reeled in this competitor and runs a 12.00.
According to the video’s description, the Mustang is tuned, has bigger injectors, and some other typical modifications. The car is also said to be a daily driver. We noticed it wearing what appear to be SVE wheels, and probably drag radials on the back. The 125 mph trap speed shows this car isn’t launching hard, but instead running it out the back door. Speeds like that are indicative of low 11 if not high 10 second capability.
