Our friend Doug Sikora has one of the most awesome Outlaw 10.5 cars on the planet. In fact, he’s a multi-time champion in the PSCA, and has won at the Street Car Super Nationals and the Yellow Bullet Nationals. And perhaps most impressively, he’s also the owner of the quickest legal Outlaw 10.5 pass in history.
So when we saw this video of his recent test session at Auto Club Famoso Raceway, we felt compelled to share. After all, it’s not often that we get a chance to ride along in-car with one of the baddest drivers around in one of the baddest cars around.
Sikora’s machine relies on a Pettis Performance-built Brad Anderson Engineering -8 HEMI engine and ProCharger F-3R 136mm supercharger to achieve those insane elapsed times, with the best a 6.17 at 230-plus MPH. The car uses an RJ Race Cars 3/4 chassis built by Sikora himself in his spare time.
We caught up with his crew member and best friend, Robert Remillard, who explains, “The quickest the car ran that weekend was 4.26 at 183 MPH for the eighth-mile which is what we were testing. On that run he ran it to 1200 feet and the quarter-mile time was 6.47 at 220 MPH. We built a new motor over the winter and it makes a bunch more torque so we were blowing through the converter. We made some changes for the race in Sacramento last weekend but the track was horrible so that data was worthless. The signs did show that we went in the right direction with the converter changes we made but instead of converter slippage on the shift we got tire spin.”
Nearly five minutes of great video – check it out!
