Video: 2015 Mustang Makes Silver Screen Debut In Need For Speed

By now you’ve likely seen the trailers for the upcoming Need For Speed movie, set to be released this spring. One of the big stars of this movie, front and center is a heavily modified GT500. While we will admit some of the action sequences definitely look over-done, we’re going to see this one in the theater just for the cars, and not so much for the story.

It turns out that the GT500 is not the only hot Mustang to make its way into the movie. The 2015 Mustang will get make its silver screen debut when the movie hits theaters. Ford recently released a little behind the scenes footage of the scene involving the 2015 Mustang and we’ve posted it at the top of this article.

We’ll go out on a limb here and say this is likely the finale of the movie as a tired looking Tobey Marshall, played by actor Aaron Paul is standing out in the road looking for a ride, when the movie’s female lead, Julia, (Imogen Poots) pulls up in the car. From the looks of the clips from Ford, the two are driving off into the sunset, somewhere in the California desert, likely a fitting end for the film.

Wanting to tie the movie into the 50th anniversary of the legendary Pony car, and be the first to usher the new S550 Mustang onto the silver screen, the producers of Need For Speed worked with Ford to make it happen.

Another cool factoid that isn’t mentioned directly, but revealed in this video, is that the “stunt driver” Paul refers to in his video is none other than Vaughn Gittin Jr. Gittin talks briefly on camera about it being pretty cool to get to drive the 2015 Mustang for it’s scene in the movie, and there’s a couple of quick glimpses of him hooning it in style.

The fact that Gittin is involved in the film gives us one more reason to go see it now, and we have to wonder given some of the other driving stunts involving Mustangs if he didn’t handle more of the driving duties elsewhere for this one? We’ll be sure to ask when we talk with him next time. Until then, we can’t wait to see the new Mustang make it’s first film appearance in a couple of months.
