David Zimmerman and his company Team Z Motorsports have been the go-to source for suspension parts to make your Fox body Mustang fly on race day, and now they’re bringing that magic touch to more vehicles. Team Z is set to offer new K-members and A-arms for the S197 Mustang (2005-2014) that are designed with the hardcore racer in mind. These new suspension parts are a fresh design for a chassis that is growing in popularity at the track for racers across the country.
Team Z has always been a customer-focused company, so when they began getting calls and requests from S197 Mustang owners for parts, they listened. Team Z also saw the opportunity to address the fact that more of these S197 cars were becoming racecars based on their price point, much like the Fox body Mustang did years before.
To begin the design process Team Z looked at what other options that S197 Mustang owners had and started from a blank slate. Team Z used CAD software to draw and then stress-test several different new designs they created in-house. This process allowed them to use the lightest and strongest designs to start their prototype phase of production.
According to Zimmerman, these new K-members and A-arms are advanced parts that hit the mark on what they set out to create. “The K-member is a significantly lighter part and has far more clearance than the stock piece. The A-arms are adjustable allowing more race-oriented alignment options. Both will be available in our metal matrix version which is a mixture of Alloy and DOM material, along with a complete 4130 version. We will soon have a pushrod motor option as well as an LS swap option for customers.”
