It’s the moment you’ve probably all been waiting for. The question that’s been asked since the reveal of the 2018 Mustang GT. How much power does it make? A stout rating of 460 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque from the factory would tell us more than 400 horsepower at the wheels in factory trim, and the 2018 Mustang with its Gen 3 Coyote engine does not disappoint.

In fact, the crew at Late Model Restoration of Hewitt, Texas, had the pleasure of answering the rear-wheel horsepower question early in the game. The company strapped its Lightning Blue 2018 Mustang GT to its in-house Dynojet rollers, and in factory trim with Ford’s new 10-speed automatic transmission, the Gen 3 Coyote-powered coupe put down more than 415 horsepower and 397 lb-ft of torque to the ground.

The moment of rear-wheel truth arrived for the 2018 Mustang GT auto at LMR and the numbers are impressive.

“As soon as we found out a 2018 Mustang had hit the ground, we flew two employees to Ohio to pick it up. Being the real Mustang enthusiasts, LMR had to get our hands on one of the first new S550s to give you guys the best content! Our team drove the car straight through from Ohio to Texas and the car immediately hit our dyno,” the company said. “With a little over a thousand miles on the car from the drive, we strapped it down and let it rip! This 2018 Mustang GT is equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission which exceeded our expectations on the drive home. While a manual transmission would be fun, we really wanted to push the limits and test the 10-speed auto!”

Now that’s one heck of a break-in if you ask us and kudos to LMR for throwing its 2018 Mustang on the dyno for all of us to enjoy!
