Six Trucks of SEMA: Ford Announces Custom Ranger Lineup

Late last week, Ford announced the custom Ford Rangers that will grace this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. Each of the custom trucks, built exclusively for SEMA by Ford’s partners, showcase the ability to personalize the Ford Ranger to suit any taste. Ford will have more than 50 vehicles on display, making it the largest OE manufacturer footprint at the show. It will also host Ford Out Front again this year, which is an interactive display open to SEMA attendees and the public alike. There, several Ford vehicles will be available for ride-alongs on a closed course.

“The automotive aftermarket space continues to grow at a tremendous pace from powerful street machines to the latest trends in overlanding and off-road,” said Eric Cin, global director, Ford Vehicle Personalization and Accessories. “The Ranger and Transit are great fits for this space, capable of being modified in countless ways to give owners the flexibility to make their vehicle as unique as they are.”

Now let’s get into the trucks!

The Tjin Edition Ford Ranger

The 2019 Ford Ranger Tjin Edition was built by father and son Neil and Collin Tjin. The pair aren’t new to SEMA – you might remember their purple RTR Mustang from the 2018 SEMA show. The pair opted to slam the truck utilizing air suspension, lowering the truck eight inches in the front and 9 inches in the rear. The Ranger rides on custom 20-inch Rotiform LHR-M three-piece wheels wrapped in Falken rubber from JR’s Wheels and Tires. They’re backed by Baer six-piston calipers and 14-inch rotors, front and rear.

Following last year’s design, the Tjin’s opted for a set of RTR fender flares and an RTR grille with triangle LED lights. They chose a custom yellow BASF paint, which was sprayed by L&R Auto Body, and also decided on a one-of-a-kind black wood bed floor accented by stainless steel hardware and protected by a Retrax retractable bed cover. A PowerTank CO2 system, Rigid Fog lights, and Lumens bed lights round out the exterior modification list.

Inside, four reclining Recaro Sportster CS seats have been installed with Schroth harnesses.

The truck’s striking appearance is complemented by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine with a Roush Performance intake, Ford Performance cat-back exhaust and differential cover, RPG front-mounted intercooler, and Optima Yellow Top battery.

RTR Rambler Ford Ranger

This one is wild. You’re probably already familiar with the RTR Mustang, and perhaps even the RTR F-150, but there’s a new RTR is town, and it’s the 2019 RTR Rambler Ford Ranger.

Built to perform in the great outdoors, the new truck was designed with street-ability, overlanding, and off-roading in mind. As with the other RTR models, the new Rambler features RTR’s signature styling with the addition of custom, practical overland styling touches. It features a SkyRise tent, integrated snowboard support capsule, and Fox tuned by Ford Performance off-road suspension leveling kit. The kit provides two inches of front lift and underbody rock protection. Custom RTR fenders allow clearance for RTR Tech 6 wheels wrapped in 33-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires.

Yakima Ford Ranger

Created by Ford Accessories partner Yakima, the Yakima Ford Ranger also has outdoor explorers in mind. We’re sensing a trend here!

The 2019 Yakima Ford Ranger features a handful of Ford Performance Parts products, including an all-new Ford tuned by Ford Performance off-road suspension leveling kit with two-inch front lift, as well as a recovery kit, cat-back exhaust, and rear differential cover. RPG bumpers grace the truck along with side steps, a Warn winch, Rigid lighting, and Fuel Recoil off-road wheels paired with 33-inch BFGoodrich T/A KO2 tires.

In addition, to make trips into the great outdoors even easier, the truck is equipped with a truck bed rack, JayLow kayak mount, and HangOver vertical four bike carrier with BackSwing mount.

The adventure accessories were added to showcase Yakima utility products available through Ford Accessories.

Advanced Accessory Concepts Ford Ranger

Advanced Accessory Concepts carried the adventuring concept forward, and equipped its 2019 Ford Ranger XLT with AFN bumpers, skid plate, and rock sliders, as well as a Ford Performance rear differential cover. The team also decided to convert the bed into an AFN aluminum tray bed with canopy, before equipping the truck with an Icon 3.5-inch lift kit, Vector wheels, and a Warn Zeon Platinum 10-S winch.

Adding to this Ranger’s ability to conquer the unknown, the Advanced Accessory Concepts Ranger has been outfitted with a Tepui Hybox tent and an ARB classic 50-quart refrigerator.

Hellwig Ford Ranger

The Hellwig Ford Ranger is the choice for those adventure seekers who also value sustainability. Its 3.5-inch Icon suspension, 17-inch Icon Compression wheels, and Falken tires allow it to conquer off-road terrains with ease. Hellwig’s own sway bars have been installed, as well as a Ford Performance Parts cat-back exhaust, rear differential cover, and recovery kid. Rock sliders and bumpers from Addictive Desert Designs were chosen along with Rigid lighting, an ARB jack, and Bushwacker fender flares.

Perhaps most interesting is its Goal Zero solar power, reducing its carbon footprint. Hellwig also chose to equip its Ranger with a Tepui hard-shell tent, Trail Kitchens bed slide stove, and a DC Safety first-aid and roadside assistance kit.

Ford Performance Parts Ford Ranger

Chock full of Ford Performance Parts, this version of the Ranger is well-named. Highlights of the build include the Ford Performance-tuned Fox off-road suspension leveling kit with two inches of front lift, Ford Performance Ranger Raptor wheels with BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires, and a Ford Performance Ranger hood-hinge light kit with Rigid DSS-Series lights.

Those aren’t the only Rigid lights on this truck though! It also sports a Rigid underbody rock light kit, Rigid 30-inch SR-Series Pro lightbar on the front bumper, two 6-inch Rigid SR-Series Pro lightbars in the front bumper’s lower opening, and Rigid D-Series 2×2 LED cube lights in the fog light openings.

It has also been equipped with a Warn 9.5 XP winch on its winch-capable front bumper, along with Ford Performance by Warn Industries heavy-duty recovery kit and red tow hooks. A Tepui Hybox rooftop tent was installed with a Decked truck bed storage system, RSI Smart Cap, ARB Elements refrigerator and freezer, and ActionTrax recovery boards.

There you have it folks! This is just a preview of what’s to come at SEMA 2019, and we won’t lie – we’re excited to see what else Ford has in store. Stay tuned!
