Salvaged ’Stangs Sourced For Special Editon Watches

The creators of REC Watches, Christian Mygh and Jonathan Kamstrup, spend a lot of time picking through through salvage yards across the world to find automotive parts that they can transform into high-end timepieces. They have even built a watch from pieces of Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s Mustang drifter. However, the company’s latest limited-edition run of 250 P51-04 watches is built from the remains of a rare, Raven Black 1966 Mustang.

“Most people would just see a pile of metal, a ghost of a Mustang. We see something completely different – the soul of a car and a story that needs to be told,” Christian explained. “I’m not cutting up Mustangs. I’m bringing Mustangs that are beyond repair back to life as a watch.”

REC Watches creates high-end, limited-edition timepieces from the remains of salvaged vehicles and its latest line is built from a 1966 Mustang.

REC conducts fastidious research on the vehicles it sources for each watch series and incorporates details like the vehicle identification number and year of production into the timepiece. For these watches they even added Mustang styling cues like a battery-life indication reminiscent of a Mustang fuel gauge and number typography inspired by the Mustang dashboard.

These watches would make a great holiday gift for your favorite Mustang enthusiast, but be warned, they start at $1,495. For more on these limited edition timepieces, you can check out the REC Watches site right here.
