Road Blog: Day 5 GoodGuys Hall of Fame Tour

You may be wondering why there’s a delay in between the last coverage. I could blame it on the lack of internet in small towns or rushed schedule but the truth is it’s the Goodguys on the tour. They aren’t kidding with the name. The people I met on the tour were incredible. And also quick to hand you a beer from one of the many coolers the minute you pull up and park at the hotel for the night. Next thing you know it’s been 3 hours and you’re still in the parking lot party and have yet to check in!

Day five started in Loveland, Colorado and was a longer day with 390 miles to travel. Despite the long day ahead everyone was very happy to hear that we would be staying low for the day after the 12,000 ft climb in elevation the day before! The sun continued it’s game of cat and mouse with us disappearing a few times during some rain clouds but that didn’t stop anyone from having a good time.

Our stop for the day was at the Classic Car Collection in Kearney, Nebraska. I think the thing that amazed me the most along the entire trip was the GoodGuy’s ability to find unbelievable car collections in the middle of nowhere. Because really, how many of us have heard of Kearney, Nebraska? But I’ll remember it now because it was one of my favorite stops along the tour! The collection included nearly 200 cars ranging from the 1900’s to the modern area and everything in the place told a story. The cars weren’t just on display, they had a background, each filled with items that brought you back and made you think about where each and every car originally came from. I felt like I was a kid again and reading the best pop up story book ever!
After story time we headed to the hotel for the night in Grand Island, Nebraska. After a long haul all the guys were excited when the hotel brought out a hose to let everyone use to clean up their cars. Once again the cooler’s came out while the cars were shined up and the night’s entertainment included a water fight between Troy Trepainer and buddy Danny Burrow.
Day 6 we head off to Lincoln, Nebraska with stops at a top secret location and Speedway Motors to see where all the magic happens.
