Make Your Plans Now! National Mustang Day Is April 17th

Mustang clubs, enthusiasts, and owners from across the globe will take part in the third-annual National Mustang Day on April 17, 2018 and you can too. Serious Mustang enthusiasts recognize the 17th day of April as the birthdate of the Mustang with many clubs and individuals planning to celebrate with their favorite pony car on the big day.

National Mustang Day is considered by many the largest one day Mustang community event around, with many owners taking to the streets to show off their pride and joy. The goal of this celebration is uniting all Mustang enthusiasts by driving their Mustangs. The 2017 iteration attracted thousands of clubs and individuals from all over the world, including Africa, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East. This year’s celebration is expected to be even larger.

While the official day is on a Tuesday, some of the more notable celebrations will take part the weekend before. That includes the 33rd Annual Fabulous Fords Forever show in Buena Park, California, on April 15, where over 1,000 Ford Mustangs are expected. The National Mustang Owner’s Museum is hosting four days of festivities highlighted by a car show, guest speakers, an open-track event and a cruise to Petty’s Garage. The Great American Pony Drive West departed from California on April 4 and arrives in North Carolina on April 11th. Along the way it stops in Dallas, Texas, to visit Gas Monkey Garage and Grill, a NASCAR race at Texas Motor speedway, and continues on to the Talladega Museum in Alabama, and Varsity Hot Dog and Car Show in Georgia. Meanwhile, the Canterbury Mustang Owners Club of New Zealand will cruise to six Mustang locations in Christchurch, followed by show ’n shine at a special location.

That’s just a few of the major events. With hundreds of thousands of Mustang enthusiasts around the globe, there is sure to be an event near you. Clubs and individuals are encouraged to take part in this community Mustang event by visiting the National Mustang Day site here for event locations in your area. Our own Editor Turner will be in attendance at the Ace Café Mustang Birthday Celebration in Orlando, Florida, where organizers hope to display one of each Mustang model year and serve up slices of a Mustang birthday cake to the crowd.

Clubs and individuals can also show their support by purchasing a National Mustang Day decal to commemorate the event as well as support the Mustang Owners Museum fund. Let’s get those ponies cleaned up and on the streets and show the world your Mustang enthusiasm on the big day and be sure to send us your photos from this exciting event.
