Is The Ranger Raptor The Perfect Cure For A Mid-Life Crisis?

Is The Ranger Raptor The Perfect Cure For A Mid-Life Crisis?

So, we have a question for you. What is the first thing that pops into your head when you think about turning the big “Five-Oh?” And no, we’re not talking about the 5.0-liter engine that many of us have underneath the hood of our Mustangs. We’re talking about that all-important birthday that can often be associated with the term “mid-life crisis.”

I’m turning 50 this year, and I have a final mid-life crisis box to tick. I’ve done supercars, superbikes, and now there is only one thing left to do – a pick-up truck. -Richard Hammond, The Grand Tour

While it’s easy for many Blue Oval enthusiasts to associate that term with the grey-haired, jean shorts, and white tennis shoes-wearing Corvette owners we see at our local car show events each week, the same can easily be said for the Ford truck enthusiast we spot driving around the city streets of SoCal in a Ford VelociRaptor 6×6 vehicle.

So we started to ask ourselves, which vehicle do we think could “split” the difference and be the ideal alternative to a mid-life crisis vehicle?

The Grand Tour’s Richard Hammond and Ford know all too well just how enjoyable driving can be. But when you reach that age where your kids are fast approaching the teenage years, it’s easy for many of us to settle for a car or truck that is more functional than fun.

“I’m turning 50 this year, and I have a final mid-life crisis box to tick,” said Richard Hammond. ” I’ve done supercars, superbikes, and now there is only one thing left to do – a pick-up truck.”

The very funny five-minute video above, which was produced in association with Ford and DriveTribe, starts off with Hammond admitting that turning 50 years old is manifesting a sort of mid-life crisis in his life. To celebrate passing that middle-age milestone, he jumps behind the wheel of the Ford Ranger Raptor to show that not only is this truck built to tackle almost any offroad environment, but it also makes for a very capable family car.

And what better way to show off its capabilities than to enlist the help of his two tech-savvy teenaged daughters. While we are not going to spoil what comes next, let’s just say that the very capable Ranger Raptor performed just as we had expected and really makes us wish that Ford would offer this flagship Ranger stateside so we could find out firsthand if this vehicle would make the perfect mid-life crisis vehicle to fit in our garage.
