Classic Mustangs can always benefit from modern suspension offerings, and in the case of enthusiasts who own a first-generation, 1964-1966, Hotchkis Sport Suspension offers its geometry-correct adjustable lower arms (PN 1117L; $575). These new lower arms are designed specifically for fastback and convertible Mustang models used for autocross, open-track days, and spirited cruising.
The arms feature larger-than-stock 1.25-to-1.50-inch DOM steel tubing that is TIG welded for increased strength and a corrected ball joint angle. According to Hotchkis, that corrected ball joint angle is “necessary for lowered ride heights and are easily adjusted when using our Adjustable Strut Rod kit for increased caster settings.”
Hotchkis also says these arms have been tested at the track on several classic Mustangs in its stable. The arms are finished in a nickel-colored powdercoating and include Grade 8 bolts for the installation.
“For the ultimate in Mustang performance handling, we’ve just introduced our adjustable lower arm for performance applications — track applications and autocross — when you need that quick camber adjustment or when you need more aggressive camber than you would on the street,” John Hotchkis said. “This is where our lower arm comes into play. We now have adjustable ends so our easy swivel bushing that’s connected to the arm.”
To enable a quick and aggressive camber adjustment, just loosen the jam-nut and swivel the easy swivel bushing which allows the arm to shorten and lengthen camber adjustment.
