Fords Took Over Annual MAAC Summer Show In The Carolinas

With a 50-plus year history, the annual Fourth of July weekend car show presented by the Mountaineer Antique Auto Club has become a Western North Carolina tradition. Originally hosted on a huge farm in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, the show made the move about 10 years ago to the WNC Ag Center in Fletcher, North Carolina, which also plays host to the annual North Carolina Mountain State Fair.

The huge swap meet is definitely one of the highlights and biggest draws for this show. From Fox Mustang parts to old Ford truck parts, we saw something that would help out in almost any build or restoration project.

The show draws out a large variety of automotive related goodies for participants and spectators to look at from a large swap meet, to show cars, to a large car corral inside the air-conditioned Expo building. The variety brings out everything from early antique Fords, such as the classic Model As to modern Mustangs and everything in between.

Our personal favorite from the show had to be this early ’30s Ford Roadster. It was Ford-powered (which is key), and we love the original look. Nothing flashy here, just a semi-flat red paint; simple, poverty-style hub caps; and, oh did we mention, it is Ford-powered!
