Ford Updates 2013 Mustang GT and V6 with New Looks and Options

Ford went official with the updates for the 2013 Mustang GT and V6 today in LA and the changes are interesting. We looked at the new GT500 this morning and the V6 and GT have a similar look. The cars now have a more GT500 style font end than they previously had. The cars also all get the 4.2-inch LCD and Track Apps that we broke the news on a few weeks ago. Even the V6 cars get that screen and the apps. All auto transmission equipped Mustangs now have SelectShift Automatic transmissions. The new cars will hit dealers this Spring.

Major exterior changes include body color lower side cladding. The GT gets functional heat extractors on the hood to help keep the car cool on the track or in traffic. The front of the car also gets a more prominent splitter. The taillights are also a big change with the LED surround and a blacked out look to match the dark front of the car.

Both the GT and V6 models get new wheel options and the entire range gets HIDs and Sync. One of the most important updates inside the 13 models is the option on both GT and V6 models to get leather clad Recaro seats out of the Boss 302 and GT500 cars. Shoppers eyeing the GT will have even more go fast goodies that can be added to make the 2013 GT a performer on the track.

A new Track Package option for the GT has debuted that gives the car a manual transmission, 3.73 axle ratio, upgraded radiator, performance friction brake pads, and the Torsen rear diff that is on the Boss 302. The car also gets the 14-inch Brembo brakes on the current cars. A cool safety feature for manual Stangs is a hill assist. This puts the brake on automatically when the car senses it is on a slope to keep the car from rolling backwards. A new optional Shaker Pro stereo is also available with 550W of power. Pricing is unannounced.
