Ford Partners WIth Lego For Officially Licensed Mustang, Raptor Kits

LEGO has managed to become more culturally popular and relevant in recent years than most people could have ever imagined. The success of LEGO can be explained by its willingness to seek customer input, as well as a series of wise licensing and marketing deals with some of the hottest brands on the market. This includes sets based on Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as adult kits based around real-world buildings like the Burj Khalifa.

Now comes along Ford, which has entered into a deal with LEGO for a new line of Blue Oval-based play sets that include the 2016 Ford Mustang and F-150 Raptor. Hopefully, these two sets are just the first of many.

“The LEGO Group is one of the world’s top toy companies, and is loved by children and adults around the globe,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president, The Americas. “Many of us grew up playing with LEGO, so this is a dream project for all of us – including our engineers.”

The 185-piece Mustang kit includes a time board and driver, and is aimed at a decidedly younger crowd if we had to guess given its size and simplicity. The larger F-150 set has 664 total pieces that include the off-road truck, trailer, a Model A hot rod to haul around, along with a drag racing tree, workshop, engine stand, and crew member. While neither set is as intricate as fan-made creations like the Ford GT and Shelby GT500, they’d make awesome mantle pieces all the same.

Ford’s LEGO kits are also a good way to introduce the kids to your passion for performance at an early age. Just make sure they learn to put everything away first, lest you find your bare feet embedded with plastic bricks.
