It’s easy to see how the Ford EcoBoost Raptor can be considered at the top of the food chain. When it comes to out-of-the-box off-road vehicle that delivers this level of performance, the Raptor is hard to beat.

But one of the first areas that many second-generation Raptor owners address early on in their builds is ditching the vehicle’s quiet stock exhaust. Critics of the EcoBoost Raptor were quick to lament the loss of the V8 exhaust note. Funny how no one complains about the Ford GT’s exhaust. Clearly there is hope. An aftermarket exhaust can recapture some of that magic.

While we have heard many aftermarket exhaust offerings since the truck debuted initially, none of them have truly captured the sound we have been looking for. That is until we heard about a new Ford Raptor exhaust offering from Mountune.

Mountune’s new MRX High-Flow Exhaust for the EcoBoost Raptor is designed to produce a sound profile that replicates the character of the Raptor. 3-inch mandrel bent tubing and a proprietary muffler packing gives this truck an aggressive note under full throttle while maintaining a drone-free experience during cruising and light throttle. Plus it promises to add a decent jump in power through a wide RPM range, and wake up the 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost engine.

“When we considered designing the exhaust for the Gen2 Raptor, we wanted to take a different approach to the project compared to the current truck exhaust systems,” said Mountune President Ken Anderson. “We looked at what was lacking in the market and came up with a product that we feel sets the bar for quality but more importantly, sound profile.”

The MRX exhaust from Mountune is produced from 304 series stainless steel tubing and also includes many features used in motorsport applications including double slip joint couplings where required, a Dimple Die reinforced primary gusset to ensure alignment, and heavy duty hangers. “We have also made sure it clears a 37-inch spare tire,” Ken explained.
