eBay Find: Extremely Low Mileage ’83 Mustang GT

By 1983 things were starting to look up for Mustang fans shopping for performance. The 1983 Mustang GT brought with it a 175 horsepower 5.0 equipped with a 4-barrel Holley carburetor, a new grille and spoiler, and late 1983 V8 models came equipped with the Borg-Warner T5 transmission for the first time.

We were recently looking around on eBay and came across this pristine example, a nearly showroom perfect 1983 Mustang GT, item number 272182978842 that shows less than 6,200 miles on the clock.

This particular example also has the TRX wheel and tire package, complete with what the owner says are good condition Michelin TRX tires. This particular car appears to be completely unmolested from its photos, right down to the stock style dual tip, but single pipe exhaust. Given the popularity of swapping exhaust systems and wheel and tire combinations, especially in the case of the TRX package, by Mustang owners, we’d say this speaks volumes about the care that has been taken on this one.

The owner states this car was driven in fair weather only, and it’s currently located in Clovis, California. The listing also states everything has been cared for with OEM or NOS replacement parts and the car was originally out of South Carolina, before he purchased it for his wife.

There’s no reserve on the auction, but the starting price of $18,999 also hasn’t drawn any bidders. There’s probably a reason for that as well. While the ’83 model was cool, and offered a glimpse of what was to come in future years, it still leaves a lot of boxes unchecked that wouldn’t make it to the Mustang for two to three more years. That includes the 8.8-inch rearend, the better floor pans that arrived later (early Foxes were known for floor pan problems), true dual exhaust, and the more powerful roller cam 5.0 engine.

Still, this car is nearly museum quality, and if you were int he market for a stock 5.0, this might be the car for you. Fox body Mustang prices have been on the rise lately, and examples like this will only continue to go up in value.
