Bid On The Eagle Squadron Mustang RTR That Flew Up The Goodwood Hill

Helping to offer education to aspiring young pilots for the last 20 years, Ford has created a series of special vehicles. These one-off rides were auctioned off at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Gathering to benefit the Young Eagles program. This year Ford did it again, but ramped up the excitement by collaborating with championship drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. on a 2018 Mustang RTR tribute to the storied Royal Air Force British Spitfire fighter.

I will be saying bye to the Eagle Squadron Mustang… — Vaughn Gittin Jr.

“For 20 years, Ford Motor Company has supported EAA’s programs to build the next generation of aviators through commitments such as these one-of-a-kind collector vehicles,” Jack Pelton, EAA CEO/Chairman, said. “This exclusive automotive salute to the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force and the famed Eagle Squadron of World War II makes this Mustang GT an even more desirable highlight of The Gathering auction.”

If you are the high bidder on the Eagle Squadron Mustang RTR, you won’t just drive away in a one-of-a-kind Mustang, you will also score an all-inclusive package for two to attend the 2018 Ford Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, Michigan, next month. The new owner will also receive a plaque autographed by Vaughn and members of Ford’s design team who collaborated on this project.

What makes this year’s auction vehicle so special is that Vaughn himself, blasted up the famed hillclimb in this car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom. As such, this Mustang is not only unique, but it already carries a special story of its own, and it could be yours tonight.

“I will be saying bye to the Eagle Squadron Mustang tomorrow night at The Gathering here at Oshkosh 2018, where it will be auctioned off!” Vaughn Gittin Jr. said on social media yesterday. “The high-bidder will not only get this one-of-one car, but a trip to the Woodward Dream Cruise where they will receive the car! Bidding is open globally.”

The Gathering kicks off tonight at 5:30 p.m. CST and online bidding is available right here, so you don’t have to be in Oshkosh to take a shot at this special ’Stang. For more information on bidding, you can contact EAA at [email protected] or by calling (920) 426-6573.

UPDATE: The Eagle Squadron Mustang RTR raised $420,000 for EAA’s Young Eagles.
