Perhaps someone should be given a life sentence for abandoning this 1970 Ford Mustang beneath a tree. This isn’t your uncles standard GT that has been neglected, but a pristine Mustang Mach 1. This yellow Mach 1 was found by George who was out scouting for a classic project. Though it appears to have been sitting for decades, thankfully rust has only begun to reach the stallion’s surface. The car looks to be 100% complete from the exterior with no major wear or damage.
The Mach 1 was introduced in 1969 to cater to the diehard race enthusiast who desires the performance of a fighter jet in his car. The standard Mustang body was slightly altered to give it a super sonic, racing inspired appearance. This was achieved by swapping the stock grill for a more intimidating face, adding a hood scoop and a larger rear wing.
These exterior accessory’s combined with the Mustangs natural rugged-sexy lines and its mean stance give it a wild race ready appearance. Not only did The Mach 1 look like a supersonic fighter jet, it performed like it, too, reaching 60 MPH in under 8 seconds thanks its legendary 351 Cleveland mill, which had a thrust output of 290 horsepower. For the true enthusiast the Mach 1 also had an option for a 335 horsepower 428 Cobra Jet motor that propelled this machine to 60 MPH in 5.5 seconds.
Sadly, when George came by no one was home and he was unable to make an offer. He is an optimist and hopes the owner will sell this for the right price instead of letting her rot away. How often would you check back to see if you can snag this beauty away from the neglectful owner?
