2020 F-Series Super Duty Takes Heavy Duty To The Next Level

We all know that Ford Super Duty owners demand a great deal from their trucks. Whether it’s purchasing a vehicle that will exceed your expectations at the job site or towing your precious cargo,  Super Duty enthusiasts are known to use this particular workhorse in a variety of diverse conditions.

This week, Ford introduced the world to the all-new 2020 F-Series Super Duty pickup, which aims at ushering in a new era of performance, capability, and technology.

The new F-Series Super Duty will debuts as the most tested pickup in the company’s history. According to Ford, the truck has endured more than 12 million miles of testing for the 2017 model year, which was increased by an additional 7 million miles for 2020 to ensure the new Super Duty can stand up to the rigors that its exacting truck customers demand of it.

“Super Duty customers have demanding and diverse needs – from towing heavy trailers to repairing critical infrastructure,” said Kumar Galhotra, Ford president, North America. “Productivity is their lifeblood, and their truck is their biggest tool. Our new Super Duty has more power, more payload, and towing capability and better technology than ever to help these customers build a better world.”

New 10-Speed Automatic Adds Performance and Capability

But perhaps one of the model exciting announcements for the 2020 model year vehicle is that Ford will now be making the all-new 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission available across the entire lineup of Super Duty engines.

The company has announced that the TorqShift transmission will feature a wider gear ratio span than its previous 6-speed offering, making it the ideal choice for demanding towing conditions. The heavy-duty transmission will continue to offer class-exclusive live-drive power takeoff, allowing the operator to engage industrial equipment and accessories, such as snowplows, with the truck in motion.

The electronically controlled transmission will also feature selectable drive modes that include Normal, Tow/Haul, Eco, Slippery, and Deep Sand and Snow. The entire unit will be specially engineered to fit in the same space as the 6-speed and weighs only 3.5 pounds more.

This comes after the announcement earlier this week that three different engine choices will be available for Super Duty enthusiasts at launch. Customers will now be able to choose from an ungraded 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel engine, the base 6.2-liter gas engine, and a new 7.3-liter V8 engine.

“With the addition of the 7.3-liter V8, upgrades to our 6.7-liter and the debut of an all-new 10- speed transmission, we are delivering the strongest, most capable Super Duty powertrain offerings yet,” said Mike Pruitt, Ford Super Duty chief engineer.

Ford Super Duty Adds Connectivity To Your Active Lifestyle

Ford has yet again delivered on its promise of providing owners an easy way to stay connected while on the go. The 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty lineup of vehicles will feature many of the same innovative features that are in its popular SUV lineup including FordPass Connect, available pre-collision assist, and WiFi access for up to 10 devices. Popular features like wireless charging and USB-C ports to power your device will also be available at launch.
