Now that the Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustangs have been unveiled to the world, we have been waiting to hear the specifics on when they go on sale, how many will be made, and how long the models will be produced – among other things. We may have the answer to two of the above.

According to Mustang6g.com, production numbers have been released for the 2016 Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustangs. Not only that, but the timeline given for production has been leaked. We are still waiting to hear the official numbers from Ford, but the numbers were posted on Mustang6g.com with a link to a Facebook account belonging to an employee that works at a large Ford dealership, Gaudin Ford.

The employee posted the production numbers that he must have received from his employer, but he has since removed the post from his social media account, but not before the news started spreading. According to that employee, the 2016 Shelby GT350 will have a run of 5,000 units a year, and the track-specific GT350R will be limited to just 500 a year. The GT350 is said to be produced for 5 years.

While the word isn’t completely official until Ford releases the numbers, but this could be a slip-up of the real deal, and an indicator that Ford is looking to produce plenty of these cars, but won’t be stamping them out in droves. It also crushes any rumors that the V8 is about to be replaced within 2 model years. Given the run of the previous generation GT500 that lasted 7 years, we have to wonder what changes the GT350 will see of the course of its lifetime. The GT500, received a boost of over 100 horsepower from the beginning to the end of its run. We know Ford always tends to refine things, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the Voodoo powered GT350 will only get better with age.
