SEMA 2019: Ford Mustang Named 2019 SEMA Car Of The Year

It’s no secret that the aftermarket loves the Ford Mustang. It has always been a favorite of automotive enthusiasts, and as such, a favorite of the aftermarket. Once again, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) membership has dubbed the 2019 Mustang the “Car of the Year.”

Determined by a vote of the exhibiting manufacturers at the SEMA Show, the Mustang has once again been deemed as the car with the most opportunity for business. The S550 Mustang excites the voting body’s customer base and best showcases their products’ potential.

“The SEMA Show is where the newest and most innovative aftermarket products are seen first,” said Mike Spagnola, SEMA VP of OEM & Product Development. “SEMA Show exhibitors are the innovators and experts who drive the $45 billion industry. Knowing what they believe are the best vehicles for accessorization helps to forecast trends.”

With voting closed October 1, 2019, the results were announced Monday, November 4th, the evening before the 53rd annual SEMA Show’s doors opened to industry attendees. The 2019 SEMA Car of the Year Award marks the fifth SEMA Award for the Mustang in the six years since the S550 Mustang made its SEMA debut at the 2014 SEMA show, with 2017 being the only year in which the Mustang was edged out.

It’s no surprise that the Mustang — specifically the S550 — continues to be the industry’s favorite car, as Ford has put a tremendous amount of effort into refining the original pony car into the vehicle it is today.
