SEMA 2017: Revology’s 600HP 1967 Shelby GT500

If you love to drive, our car is for you. — Tom Scarpello, Revology Cars

The Shelby GT500 is one of the most storied Mustangs ever built. If you wanted an original in primo shape, you’re going to spend well into the six-figures and you’ll have a rare machine that you might be hesitant to drive because of its value and lack of modern driveability. Today at the ROUSH Performance booth at the SEMA Show, Revology Cars unveiled its latest creation — a 1967 Shelby GT500 powered by a Roush-supercharged Coyote engine.

“Most original cars are rarely driven. The Revology is designed to be driven anywhere, anytime. It really depends on where your priorities are. If you love to drive, our car is for you,” Revology president and founder, Tom Scarpello, said.

In the ROUSH Performance booth at the SEMA show, Revology Cars revealed its latest Mustang replica, a 1967 Shelby GT500 that carries the classic styling but with a host of modern features.

The car in question is built on the same front engine, rear-wheel drive M58 platform that Revology has refined and utilized on its other Mustang replicas, like the 1966 Shelby GT350 we took for a spin. The platform did need some tweaks to accommodate the Roush-prepped Coyote 5.0-liter engine boosted by the vaunted Roushcharger TVS supercharger to churn out 600 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque.

“We revised the driveline, cooling, electrical, suspension, and even the body of the car to handle the increased output,” Tom explained. “The 5.0 RSC is a great engine; reliable, sophisticated and bulletproof, with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty. We knew this was the engine we wanted for the GT500, so we designed the car around it.”

Revology created the first example of its 1967 Shelby GT500 — which is holding court in the ROUSH Performance booth at the show — for Mark Pieloch, a noted collector (We shared his collection with you here.), who already owns two Revology Mustangs, including a 1966 GT convertible and 1966 GT350H.

“I chose Revology because of the way they integrate modern technology into the classic body styles of the 1960s,” says Pieloch. “Revology is a cutting-edge technology company, working to build the best vehicle possible. The classic vehicle market is evolving; today people are looking for more features and reliability compared to the people who bought these cars in the 1960s. In particular, people under 50 love the styling of these cars but want modern performance and creature comforts, and that is what Revology delivers.”

A 600-horsepower, Roush-supercharged Coyote 5.0-liter engine powers the Revology GT500. Inside it features classic interior styling alongside modern features like air conditioning, Bluetooth, navigation, and more.

While the Revology vehicles certainly embody the spirit of the classic Mustangs they honor, the cars are brimming with modern features and technology. The Shelby GT500 comes standard with air conditioning, power disc brakes, power steering, power windows, power locks, remote keyless entry, and all the amenities you would expect in a modern car.

“The 1960s was a unique period of unbridled creativity and expression in vehicle design,” Tom added. “We are preserving the legacy of these cars, while making them reliable and fun to drive.”

If a classic GT500 with all the modern features sounds alluring, you better have your finances in order. The Revology 1967 Shelby GT500 will set you back $219,000.
