Whether it’s the middle of spring or the SEMA Show in November, our friends at ProCharger are continually developing and launching new supercharger products and systems in order to keep up with the onslaught of ripe-for-the-picking performance vehicles being introduced to the market year in and year out. ProCharger’s engineers have been hard at it again in 2016 and here in Las Vegas, they’ve pulled the wraps off a couple of their latest developments — these for the 2016-17 Ford Mustang GT 350.
ProCharger has assembled a complete supercharger system designed to add even more pep to the already potent 5.2-liter, 552 horsepower, naturally-aspirated GT 350 — the latest Ford ponycar to carry the Shelby badge. As ProChargers’ Erik Radzins tells us, the basis of this new system is their tried-and-true P-1SC-1 supercharger, which is their entry level street kit; set up with six pounds of boost, it amps up the horsepower on the GT 350 to around 660 horsepower to the rear wheels when combined with the supplied tune.
The system features a dedicated belt drive, and on the GT 350, also uses a model-specific Innovators West balancer — necessary with the crankshaft in the engine and the 8,300 rpm engine speed (which ProCharger doesn’t modify with their system or tune). “The impressive thing is the flat torque curve on this motor — it’s flat from 4,000 all the way to 8,300, so it’s unbelievable how well you can get low-end grunt out of them,” says Radzins.

According to Radzins, the GT 350 kit comes packaged only with the large intercooler, while the GT version can be optioned with the Stage II or the more budget-minded “HO” intercooler. “The HO intercooler is for the guy on a budget — bang for the buck, I don’t think you can get the same kind of performance for the money anywhere else,” Radzins proclaims.
As part of the kits, ProCharger provides 95 lb-hr fuel injectors from DeatschWerks and an HP Tuners nGauge. Radzins says their development team spent a year and a half tweaking the supplied tune for the GT and GT 350 superchargers systems in an effort to provide customers with a complete, ready-to-install package right out of the box. “The tune is what’s made it what it is — it drives 100 percent stock, and it’s incredibly smooth. On top of it, we give the customer large enough injectors that they can bump up the boost if they choose. We supply a JMS Fuel Pump Booster to help the factory fuel pup get to the power levels this kit makes, as well.”
