SEMA 2015: aFe’s New Suspension Line “aFe Control”

Many people involved with the aftermarket performance world are well aware of the aFe name, but don’t know how far it reaches. Here at the 2015 SEMA Show, the company was big on promoting its several branches, including the aFe Control line of suspension products and components.

We were fortunate enough to catch up with Aaron Pfadt who was happy to fill us in on what aFe Control encompasses. “aFe Control is the suspension and control portion of the business under aFe Power, ” he said. “We recently purchased Sway-A-Way for trucks and SUVs, and we have the Pfadt product line, so all of this has helped us to bring worldwide products together: American trucks, sports cars, musclecars, as well as some of the German applications like Porsche and BMW.”

One of the star products at the booth was the new lowering package for the S550 Ford Mustang, featuring lowering springs and a hollow-tube sway bar. “The springs lower the car 1 1/4-inches for better handling when you want to take these cars out for some spirited driving,” said Pfadt. The sway bars, meanwhile, offer stability to a daily driver. They are made from CNC-bent tubular alloy steel, and come finished in a beautiful tangerine orange powder-coat finish for long-lasting good looks.

Rounding out some of the aFe Control lineup were other products meant for the C5 and C6 Corvettes, as well as the 2014-and-up BMW M3 and M4. Each of these applications was addressed with adjustable coilover kits machined from 6061-T6 aluminum. They use double digressive valve technology, and have easy access to the rotary knob that tweaks both compression and rebound in one device. The 24 distinct settings on the front and rear shocks accommodate for a comfortable street feel, all the way up to track settings.
