SEMA 2013: Neil Tjin’s Cool F-150 Brings Style And Function Together

Pushing the style envelope and taking things in a whole new direction is the way Neil Tjin builds cars. The 2013 SEMA show was flush with his creations including this 2013 EcoBoost F-150.

Right off the bat the first thing you notice about the truck is how low it is, thanks to some custom frame work and the use of custom air suspension from Unique Fabrication that includes an Accuair elevel control system. Riding on custom built Rotiform 24-inch wheels with Falken rubber, this truck sits down on the floor, in a show that is filled with trucks most of us could stroll under. Tjin says over 300 hours of work went into the suspension alone.

Under the hood the EcoBoost V6 features one of Vortech’s new Intercoolers for EcoBoost engines, a direct replacement for the factory unit.

Magnaflow exhaust gives the truck a healthy growl, if you can hear it over the Scorsche audio system. Baer brakes provide enhanced stopping for this truck, which Tjin says will be his daily driver and family hauler.

Outside the truck has a Linex bed-liner for when the kids or Neil decide to throw their toys in the back. There’s also a Thule bike rack, that can carry enough bikes for the entire family to enjoy an afternoon of fun together.

Webasto provided not one but two sunroofs, which will provide fresh air to both the front and rear seat passengers. Tjin tells us the roof underwent extensive work to allow the use of both of the power-sliding panels. Lightwurkz supplied the headlights, and the body has custom flares incorporated for all four wheels adding to the truck’s stanced look. The stealthy gray paint is a custom job from Axalta, and Escort HD radar keeps an eye out on the 5-0.

Using his talent for bringing various manufacturers and companies together Tjin created a one of a kind truck that drew thousands to it during this year’s SEMA show. With 54 events scheduled for the Tjin Edition Roadshow in 2014, it should be very interesting what one of the industry’s hottest designers comes up with next.
