Fords Take Over The Strip At The Pigeon Forge Rod Run

For over 30 years, hot rodders have flocked to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, twice a year for the annual Pigeon Ford Rod Run. While the main show location varied over the years — from the now defunct Grand Hotel to its current location at the LeConte Center — the highlight of the show has always been the same, the Pigeon Forge strip. With every parking spot full and every piece of grass taken with a lawn chair, the stage has always been set for some great cruising action along this two-mile section of highway 441 known.

The bad part about watching cars and trucks cruise the strip at Rod Run is the fact that sometimes we never get to actually check out all the features of these cool rides. We were lucky enough to find these two Ford trucks parked just up the street from our hotel and just had to share them with you. We could not locate the owners to get all the details, but here is what we saw. The red and white unibody F100 has a Three-Valve swap from an S197 Mustang . Its stance is perfect, the color combo is classic, and we love it. The later F100 features a supercharged Two-Valve 4.6-liter engine and some out-of-this-world patina on it, not to mention also having a killer ride height. These are two Ford trucks we would love to cruise the strip in all night long.

In years past, burnouts were a common occurrence — there were even sanctioned burnout pits along the strip back in the ’80s — but that went away in recent years due to insurance and crowd-safety concerns. However, the other traditions still continue, from vintage cruisers to drag cars to modern muscle to diesel trucks and everything in between, you will see it cruising the strip at the Rod Run.

Naturally, we were on hand for the spring 2018 edition with camera in hand searching out the coolest Fords on the strip. There we were able to capture more than our fair share rolling down the Pigeon Forge Strip. Check them all out in the gallery below…
