32nd Southeast Street Rod Nationals Crushes Expectations

A damp start to the 32nd annual Southeast Street Rod Nationals gave way to brilliant Florida sunshine and dry air April 5-7th.  With numbers approaching a staggering 1,400 customized vintage cars, street rods, trucks, rat rods, and muscle cars there was no shortage of classic iron to suite everyone’s taste.

A Steady stream of automotive eye candy poured into Tampa’s Florida State Fairgrounds April 5-7th.

Dubbed as one of the area’s largest automotive participation events, The NSRA Southeast Street Rod Nationals is truly a spectator event. Filling Tampa’s Florida State Fairgrounds with some of the most beautiful, best constructed vintage vehicles and specialty vendors offering everything from sought after auto parts to jewelry.

An eclectic mix of vintage muscle and street rods filled acres of real estate at the Florida State Fairgrounds.

“You really can’t beat the location,” said Michigan resident Karen Chessik. “I love seeing all the great cars around town as most people drive them to the event,” adding, “That’s what they were made for right?”

Mirroring that sentiment was Tampa resident Lt Colonel Chris Reynolds, whose Air Force themed Mustang captured plenty of attention as well as a coveted weekend award. “We come every year and love it. It’s close and just a great time.”

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

NSRA’s director Jim Rowlett said: “One of the special attractions for the spectators is that they can walk right up to the vehicles and check each one out close up as they are not roped off or otherwise confined.”

“All are in the open and can be examined top to bottom, front to back, inside and out. While the exquisite paint and other features of the car should not be touched, spectators are free to look to their heart’s content.”

Paul Puleo’s ’32 Ford coupe “Born Again” garnered plenty of praise from visitors.

The 2019 NSRA Southeast Street Rod Nationals proved once again that the hobby is alive and well and once more, offers something for everyone.
