What’s It Like To Take A Dream Road Trip In A Ford GT?

There are dream cars and there are dream road trips. For us, any drive in the Ford GT would be a realized fantasy, but thanks to a new video from Ford we can ride along the Atlantic Ocean Road in Norway that consists of a string of eight bridges connecting the towns of Kårvåg and Vevang and even features a section where the road seems to vanish.

The Atlantic Ocean Road has to be driven to be believed. — Steve Sutcliffe

“The Atlantic Ocean Road has to be driven to be believed. Only the most hardened cynic could fail to be unmoved by a journey across scenery of such unimaginable beauty,” said internationally renowned motoring journalist Steve Sutcliffe, who fronts each travelogue of road trip destinations where the history, the view and the culture are as important as the driving thrills. “I had to break our rating system on this occasion, and score the road 11/10 for scenery. What else can you do on a route where you can actually see whales when you are driving along?”

Ford just released the seventh video in its series of Greatest European Driving Roads that takes a Ford GT along the Atlantic Ocean Road in Norway en route to Arctic Circle Raceway.

While the road scores highly as a driving road, the trip wraps up at Arctic Circle Raceway, where Steve meets up with Ford Chip Ganassi Racing driver and Le Mans veteran Stefan Mücke who proceeds to set the lap record at the world’s northernmost racetrack, which is just 18.64 miles south of the Arctic Circle.

While we are pretty jealous that we couldn’t take this trip, it’s amazing that Ford shared the experience with us.

Such a drive might be out of reach for most of us, but you can keep dreaming by building your own virtual Ford GT on the online configurator right here.
