Watch As Ken Block Kills All Tires During Tokyo Photo Shoot

For as long as we can remember, Japan supported a diverse car scene. Over the last two decades, that car scene has grown into a global phenomenon. From blockbuster movies to professional Formula DRIFT events, it’s hard not to trace many of the current car culture events we attend each year attend back to these roots.

It was no surprise that Toyo Tires driver Ken Block and seven-time off-road champion BJ “Ballistic” Baldwin were featured at this year’s 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon.

The Tokyo Auto Salon debuted back in 1983 as the Tokyo Exciting Car Show. It aimed to educate the public on Japan’s custom-car culture. Now in its 36th year, the annual three-day extravaganza delivers an exciting mixture of the latest trends in the powerful custom car scene and some of the most colorful and entertaining rides that the Japanese culture has to offer.

Toyo Tires took center stage at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon and the company put together a special display for fans to get up close and personal with the entire lineup of performance tires. Its impressive display featured racing demonstrations and special talk sessions by professional drivers.

In addition to the impressive drift display in his rallycross-spec Ford Fiesta we reported on earlier this week, Mr. Block was also able to steal the Hooncorn V2 from inside the Toyo display booth and take it for a Japanese period correct photo shoot as well. The former FIA World Rallycross driver traveled to Edo Wonderland for the shoot.

Ken Block was able to take a step back in time in his world-famous Hoonicorn V2 Mustang to Edo Wonderland for a unique Japanese photo shoot.

Late last year, Ken Block and Hoonigan Media Machine announced that the newest video GymkhanaTEN aimed to bring a whole new level of excitement with five different, epic, all-wheel-drive, high-horsepower Ford machines. Ken also said he would film these vehicles in five different locations around the world.

The Tokyo Auto Salon took place on January 12-14 at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex in Tokyo.
