For many of us, winter is a time when our Mustangs see very little use. Ice, snow, and freezing cold temperatures all work together to keep us from getting out and about in our favorite pony cars. While a few industrious, brave, and intrepid enthusiasts will still venture out into the icy doom of winter in their Mustangs, most of us just leave the Pony car in the garage.
For Vaughn Gittin Jr, winter just presented a new opportunity to test his latest race prepped Mustang. We figured Gittin would be debuting a 2015 Mustang sometime this year, and we were right. In this video, just released today, Gittin takes to the driver seat of his 2015 Mustang, wearing full 2015 racing livery. With the kick off of the Formula Drift series just a few weeks away, this video seems timely.
Few details are given about the car itself. What we can be certain of is that this car is wearing the full RTR package, including exclusive RTR wheels. It appears very similar to the car that Gittin brought out for the 2014 SEMA show in Las Vegas last fall.
Of course, with it being winter, Gittin doesn’t just take his Mustang out for some fun on the asphalt. Instead, he’s kicking it on a frozen lake, just another day at the office for the Mustang Madman. Gittin takes the car around the lake the only way he knows how -sideways.
While the video is short lived, the sound of the engine, and the site of snow and ice flying everywhere get us excited for racing season. We’re looking forward to checking this Ford Performance bred pony up close and personal at the Formula Drift season opener in Long Beach next month. Until then, enjoy the video.
