When it comes to driving and racing high performance cars, you need high-performance parts to back it up. A high-quality transmission might just be one of the top items on that priority list. Tremec now offers the aftermarket 6-speed T-56 Magnum transmission for the S-197 Mustangs from 2005 and up.
Treme teamed up with Tiger Racing and installed the all-new T-56 Magnum transmission into Paul Brown’s class-winning World Challenge Ford Mustang GTS shown here at the 2011 SEMA show. powerTV host Jessica Barton, speaks with both Tremec’s Nate Tovey, and Tiger Racing’s Paul Brown who mentions that there were no transmission failures or shifting issues and that they couldn’t be happier with the results. It’s a reasonably light transmission with a very precise low-effort short shifter. Paul Brown’s dash cam throughout the video proves that it’s tough as you see him take on the track in the GTS and watch him work the Magnum T-56 throughout the race.
Tiger Racing tested the new Magnum pretty hard during the 2011 season, also using it for braking and reaching high speeds between 140-200 mph multiple times during races. There’s no question that these transmissions are extremely durable and have the ability to withstand a healthy 700 lb-ft. of torque. Both Tremec and Paul Brown agree that the transmission serves well for the street as well as the track. The double-overdrive Magnum transmissions are also known in the O.E. form as the TR-6060 used in other high performance super cars such as the ZR1 Corvette and the ACR Viper.
