Moore, Oklahoma was recently the site of a couple of devastating storms involving incredibly powerful twisters that left dozens dead and hundreds homeless. Beyond the human toll, many millions of dollars in property and business damage has left an already hard-hit community scrambling to recover.
Some people have taken the devastation in stride, with the enduring spirit of their pioneer ancestors, the people of the American Mid-West are hearty, and have often shown they can endure even the greatest of setbacks. People like Moore resident Jack Haden, who found that even though the EF5 tornado ravaged his 2003 Mustang V6, it was still in running and driving condition. KSBI TV reports that Jack’s defiant attitude has been seen as a spark of hope in hard-hit Moore, and with Haden’s antics, it is easy to see why.
The 2003 Mustang V6 was flipped, tossed, and wrapped around a tree, but amazingly Haden found that the engine still turned over. After removing dead weight like the trunk lid, roof and doors, as well as performing a few mechanical tune-ups, he was able to get the Mustang “road-worthy” in a sense. He began driving it around the Moore area, receiving many high-fives and thumbs-up.
Sporting an epic beard and an undefeatable attitude, Haden has provided some much-needed laughs and smiles for the weary residents of Moore. An airplane mechanic by trade, Haden took just two hours to get the Mustang back on the streets. He was understandably excited to get it on the road, and his awesome outlook is a lesson to us all that the human spirit cannot be broken.
