There are few things in the world that get us as excited as the roar of an engine laying down some big power through a huge exhaust. There really is no replacement for displacement when it comes to the loud roar of a big V8 engine, and when you slap a supercharger on it you can hear the atmosphere being vaporized into horsepower all around you.
With a 6.2 liter V8 under its hood, Ford’s SVT Raptor F-150 pickup has plenty of displacement. Let the guys from Hennessey Performance Engineering around it though, and you end up with a supercharged VelociRaptor that sounds like Hell on Earth.
The Hennessey VeolciRaptor 600 takes your standard 6.2 liter SVT Raptor and pisses it off with a host of upgrades. From the factory the Raptor is rated at 411 horsepower and 436 ft-lbs of torque from its 6.2 liter engine. Great numbers, and more than enough power for most people. But the customers of Hennessey are not “most people.” They want big power and a sound so brutal it will rip your eardrums out.
The V600 system adds a 2.3 liter supercharger, intake, exhaust, and intercooler for a big power boost. On the dyno, the VelociRaptor put 479 horsepower and 515 ft-lbs of torque down to the wheels. With a 0-60 time of under six seconds and the ability to run the quarter-mile in the mid-13’s, the Hennessey VelociRaptor is not a truck to be taken lightly.
